Pencils of promise
Loved the Parade article about young Adam Braun’s creation of pencilsofpromise.org. Imagine the changes in a young life in an undeveloped country that a simple pencil could provide. Since we are going to stop teaching our kids how to write, I say we send all our pencils to Adam.

I attended An Evening of Words and Music at Beulahland Bible Church in Macon. The theme of the evening’s performance was “Actions count. Words matter. Music heals.” This theme permeated the entire evening: Actions? About 5,000 people of every skin tone, every economic bracket, every level of education gathered together in spiritual harmony. Words? Total silence reigned throughout that mega church as Anna Deavere Smith delivered “Letter from Birmingham Jail” by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and “Brother” from U.S. Rep. John Lewis. Music? Robert McDuffie, world renowned violinist, accompanied the words with selections such as “How Great Thou Art,” “America the Beautiful,” theme from “Schindler’s List,” and “Amazing Grace.” The music was an attempt to heal our grieving hearts as we heard the timely and painful words of King, who lamented his incarceration for breaking an unjust law out of his moral conviction.
That evening 5,000 people acknowledged that actions toward one another count, words exchanged among people of divergent backgrounds and cultures matter, and the healing power of beautiful music is heaven-sent. I believe that for those two hours in Beulahland Bible Church, Jesus would have wept tears of thanksgiving as we were united through words and music.

Thank you for allowing us to voice our opinions. I did many years in the military and hope that I helped to defend our rights. I will not carry on the string about rights of police, rights of photos, Libertarians, etc. I will not carry it on because it has denigrated to name-calling, slurs and attacks. Intellectual void? Really. Wasn’t that a bit much just because someone disagrees with you?

The right or left?
All my life I’ve heard of the Republican Party (some call the right), and the Democratic Party (some call the left). Seems after all these years, its just the right and the wrong.

I have always been a strong supporter of the state of Israel, but Hill Kaplan’s weekly letters criticizing the Obama administration over the issue of the negotiations for a treaty with Iran are not always accurate nor are his sources always realistic.
We give Israel $5 billion annually, more than any other nation, plus military aid. Prime Minister Netanyahu was openly for the election of Mitt Romney versus Obama who won by five million votes. Now he is coming here at the invitation of House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, to speak to our Congress to help him get re-elected and help his Republican GOP friends. A double whammy.
Kaplan is obviously an Israel apologist which serves to detract from the veracity /professionalism of what this weekly contributor unceasingly puts forth as the absolute, unvarnished truth. I thought that our negotiations with Iran were mostly secret. The Associated Press doesn’t know all about the treaty talks, etc.

Contempt of court?
Perhaps citizens are a little less willing to serve on juries in Middle Georgia because they have very little respect for any judicial system that allows a scofflaw like Howard Simms to serve as judge. The sorry fact that a man who has been caught twice driving drunk and both times declared himself above the law by twice accepting a “Get out of jail free” card from our misguided local law enforcement officers gets to sentence people guilty of DUI, is, in itself, contempt of court, the Georgia Bar and the American concept of equal justice for all. I could not in good conscience serve on any jury in his court.
Tim Talcott makes a very common mistake in his recent letter. Mark Anthony never said “...the evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones.” William Shakespeare is the author of those words.

Muslims extremist and their supporters (Iran being one of many) are hell-bent on dominating the world and are in the process of cleansing the Middle-East of Jew, Christians and moderate Muslim. Their goal is to have a purified land from which to transition from harassing infidels around the world to launching global Jihad.
Islam and Judaism rejects Jesus Christ as the messiah (God’s son), views homosexuality as evil and have exceedingly high moral standards and are at each other throats. Now America, saturated with pornography, marijuana, alcohol, profanity, thievery, sex traffickers, abortions, deceit, rape, bestiality, homosexuality, adultery, greed, murder, drug addiction and all the other moral depravities, injects its ethical sewerage and its military riddled with homosexuals and Christian infidels into the fray. This isn’t going to end well.

This is regarding the Braves 2015 schedule. I love the way you print it in The Telegraph except for one thing. We need to know the TV channels that the games will be broadcast on. You did that last year and I was able to fold it and keep it near.
I realize that you might not have that information at this time so I will look forward to the day when you are able to print it.
Thanks for your help.
