A University of Georgia student was arrested Nov. 16 after a high-speed chase through Athens during which, police said, he was posting updates to Snapchat. Athens-Clarke County police released bodycam footage of the 110 mph pursuit, which ended in the student’s pickup running off the road and crashing into a number of parked vehicles. Police said Hunter Ty Wilkerson, 19, stole five traffic signs from the UGA campus before the pursuit. He faces 25 charges, including reckless driving, fleeing an officer and driving under the influence.''
A five-day undercover operation led to the arrest of 21 people who were accused of preying on children online with the intent to have sex with them, authorities said. The multi-jurisdictional operation was centered in Columbus, Georgia, and launched on November 9, 2017.

A police car was set on fire at the Georgia Institute of Technology on the night of Monday, September 18, during protests against the fatal police shooting of a student. Georgia Tech student Scout Schultz was fatally shot by campus police on the university’s Atlanta campus late Saturday, September 16, after refusing drop a knife. Protests erupted on the campus Monday night, coinciding with a vigil planned for that night. This video shows a campus police car on fire.
A 21-year-old man, identified as Georgia Tech student Scout Schultz by a university spokesman, according to reports, was fatally shot by campus police on the university’s Atlanta campus late Saturday, September 16, after refusing drop a knife. In this video, police are seen pointing guns at Schultz, and heard ordering him to “drop the knife,” as well as asking his name. Schultz, who appears to be barefoot, shouts “shoot me.” He advances towards one of the officers and is then shot. Reports said he died in a nearby hospital on September 17.
Georgia’s Cobb County police department is investigating one of its officers over a controversial comments caught on a dashcam video from July 2016. In the video the officer tells a woman afraid to follow his orders, “we only kill black people.”
