PERRY -- At least two people are interested in campaigning for a Perry City Council seat.
A vacancy was created with the resignation of Joe Posey, whose District 2 Post 1 slot has more than three years remaining in the term.
Qualifying so far were Mia Geiger, a licensed esthetician who is about 47 years old, and is a 31-year resident of Houston County; and Robert Jones, a youth minister who is about 30 years old, who is a 30-year resident of Houston County. Both of them qualified Monday.
Prospective candidates can qualify between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Houston County Board of Elections office, 801 Main St. Room 237, Perry. Candidates must be qualified municipal voters, have lived in the district for six months and in the city itself for one year.
The district covers northeastern Perry. The qualifying fee is $198.
