The May 20 primary and nonpartisan election is just two weeks away.
Here are a few reminders about the election season:
The one day of Saturday voting is May 10, from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. In Bibb County, Saturday voting will take place at the Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections office, 2445 Pio Nono Ave., Macon. In Houston County, go to the Board of Elections Office, 801 Main St., Perry.
Early voting began on April 28 and continues through May 16. In Bibb, the hours are 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. In Houston, they’re 8 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be no voting in the office on Monday, May 19.
Two additional voting locations opened in Houston County May 5. Voters may cast ballots 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday through May 16 at the old Houston Mall on Houston Road or Central Georgia Technical College, Building G, off Cohen Walker Drive.
On May 20, voters must go to their assigned polling precinct to vote between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. In Bibb County, new voter precinct cards were just mailed out from the Secretary of State’s office.
An electronic copy of the sample ballot is available on the Secretary of State’s “my voter page”: www.mvp.sos.ga.gov. The sample ballots will help voters know the offices and candidates on their ballot and decide how to vote before they get to the polls. Sample ballots are also available at the elections office, public libraries and major grocery stores in the area.
If runoffs are needed, they will be held on July 22.
