A retired educator and an accountant round out the field of five candidates who are running for Houston County’s Post 7, at-large Board of Education seat.
Tannya Duncan, 57, qualified Tuesday and is a former assistant principal in Houston County. Douglas Wechsler, 44, is an accountant in Bonaire, and he qualified Wednesday, the last day to do so. They join Andy Rodriguez, Joseph Bryan Upshaw and Robbin Jackson, who qualified for the election Monday.
The Post 7 seat was left vacant last month by the resignation of Dave McMahan, who won the position in 2012 in a three-person race. McMahan narrowly beat out Rodriguez and Griff Clements with 50.53 percent of the vote.
The special election will be held at the same time as other general primary and nonpartisan elections on May 20.
