Interested in running a county? Macon-Bibb is paying big bucks to do so
Are you able to run a $279-plus million operation and navigate through the world of politics?
If the answer is yes, then there’s an opportunity to manage 1,800 Macon-Bibb County employees and be well-compensated for doing so. The county manager position for the hub city of Middle Georgia is officially open to applicants.
The position became vacant in April after the resignation of County Manager Dale Walker, who became embroiled in a pension scandal.
The ideal county manager will have either a bachelor’s or master’s degree in public or business administration and 4-8 years experience in the field of public or private business administration.
The County Commission and mayor is seeking “someone who would build up employee morale, be inclusive and collaborative with directors and employees, understand and use economic forecasting, have respect for other people, be open and honest with commissioners and be able to work with a variety of agencies and partners,” the job posting said.
The job pays between $126,297 and $210,267 based on experience.
