Bibb County school board members unanimously voted to ratify Curtis L. Jones Jr. as the sole finalist in their superintendent search.
Jones, the superintendent in Griffin-Spalding County, interviewed with Bibb board members during a closed session Feb. 5 at a called school board meeting. He informed his current board members of the Bibb County position on Tuesday.
The Griffin-Spalding superintendent worked his way up the ranks of the school district after spending 20 years in the Army.
Jones was a finalist for Georgia’s Superintendent of the Year last year and also serves as president-elect of the Georgia School Superintendents Association.
Before the Bibb County board can vote to make his appointment official, Georgia law mandates a 14-day waiting period after announcing a finalist to the public.
