The Twiggs County school board has hired an interim superintendent to lead the system for the coming school year, board Chairwoman Ethel Stanley said Friday.
She said the board hired former interim Clayton County schools Superintendent Valya Lee.
“We’ve hired her for a year,” Stanley said, but the board could consider extending her time as superintendent based on her performance in the year ahead.
The system was operating under interim Superintendent Carol Brown. Her contract expired June 30, and the board was split on a pool of superintendent candidates to hire, including Bibb County elementary principal Ramon Johnson.
