Bibb County school parents who want to help build a profile to be used to hire the school system’s next superintendent have a chance starting today.
The Bibb County school board and PROACT, a search firm hired by the system, are holding three community meetings to find out what residents think are the most important traits the system’s next superintendent should have.
The meetings are scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Howard High School and 7:30 tonight at Southwest High School. The third meeting is at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Rutland Middle and Rutland High’s joint cafeteria.
An online survey can be accessed at http://bibbsuperintendent.com/.
Based on stakeholder input, PROACT will develop a superintendent profile, which will be presented to the school board at a called meeting July 12. The school system hopes to hire its next leader by Sept. 1.
“This is a process and decision which will have an impact on the future of our children, schools and the community for many years. And with stakeholder input, we’ll be better able to select a superintendent that can meet our needs,” school board President Gary Bechtel said.
