The Bibb County school system presented Ryan Logan, the American Red Cross emergency services director, with the “Be There Award” on Thursday.
Since July 1, Logan has responded to 107 incidents in Bibb County, ranging from fires to other emergencies, which helped assist 188 Bibb students.
“We were able to provide victims with spare uniforms” and get them food and to school, said acting Bibb County school Superintendent Sylvia McGee. “Ryan contacts the school district at all hours of the night.”
Sherri Flagg, Lane Elementary School principal, said that during a fire in her school zone, Logan “made sure those boys and girls got to school to take CRCTs without interruption.”
Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests are state mandated exams.
Logan was given a silver inscribed plate.
He said its take a village to respond to disaster.
“We appreciate this and look forward to a continued partnership,” he said.
