Student enrollment at Middle Georgia Technical College saw a 30 percent boost this quarter over the same time last year, school officials said.
Currently, 3,601 students are attending winter quarter classes at Middle Georgia Tech, making it the largest single quarter enrollment in its history.
Officials credited the enrollment increase to students facing under-employment and unemployment who are looking to build their skills in the job market, as well as relatively low tuition costs and financial aid opportunities.
“It means we’re reaching more students in our community and more skilled workers for jobs in our community,” said Janet Kelly, marketing and public relations director for the college. “(We’re) making a bigger economic impact in the Middle Georgia area.”
