A Westside High School student was suspended Monday for having a knife at school, said Chris Floore, school system spokesman.
About 9 a.m. Monday, a classroom teacher saw a 17-year-old male, a junior, with a three-inch blade, Floore said.
“No one was injured, and there was no disruption to the school,” he said.
A knife with a three-inch or longer blade on school grounds is a felony and a school system level IV offense, which can carry the same punishment as carrying a gun to school, Floore said.
The student is suspended until an evidentiary hearing in January. He was taken to the Bibb County jail.
