Southwest High School will require students to wear polo-style collared shirts this fall, pending school board approval.
Howard High School is the only Bibb County high school that has required a uniform dress code, which it implemented last school year. Chris Floore, Bibb County schools spokesman said Thursday that Southwest sent a letter to parents this week notifying them of the new shirt requirement to give parents enough time to purchase the shirts before school starts Aug 6.
“They wanted to change it to make it more professional,” he said. “But they haven’t brought it to the school board.”
The school board must approve any dress code changes at a school and Floore said it should come before the board soon for approval.
