Georgia College & State University’s student newspaper, “The Colonnade,” won first place in the general excellence category for the fourth straight year at the annual Georgia College Press Association awards.
The Colonnade competed against 32 other schools from around the state and won 11 awards total. The awards were handed out Feb. 6-7 in Athens.
“It really means a lot to me personally and I know I am speaking for the entire staff to be recognized for all the work we put into making it as good a student newspaper as we possibly can,” said the newspaper’s editor, Corey Dickstein, who took first place for an article covering a connect-ed program.
The Colonnade is a weekly student newspaper that was established in 1924.
