State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox is heading to Twiggs and Bibb counties today to visit schools. Cox will head to Twiggs County’s Jefferson Elementary School this morning and then to Central High School in Macon this afternoon.
“These visits give me the opportunity to meet face-to-face with the people on the front lines of education in Georgia,” Cox said. “I am always excited to get into schools and see the learning that is happening around the state.”
“What I learn on the road has a big impact on the work of the Georgia Department of Education and the State Board of Education,” she added.
Traveling to Georgia’s schools and visiting with local educators is part of the State School Superintendent’s job description (O.C.G.A. 20-2-35). Since taking office in 2003, she has visited more than 600 schools in every school system in the state.
