A man wounded in a Nov. 24 fight sought treatment at a Macon hospital. The man, 62, told a Bibb County sheriff’s deputy at the hospital that he had asked a guy to stay off his property on Madden Avenue, near Mercer University Drive and Interstate 75.
The guy cussed him and threatened to beat him, then left and went to a store on Montpelier Avenue to get beer.
The man “followed the suspect to the store (where) he faced off with the suspect, asking him why he came onto his property,” an incident report noted. That’s when the suspect punched the man in the face.
The man who’d been struck “went to his truck to get a baseball bat to defend himself,” the report went on, but “the suspect took the bat from him and hit him in the head and left shoulder, causing more injuries.”
In the scrum, the beaten man’s money fell out of his pocket. He lost $400.
The injured man “was very drunk” and didn’t know his attacker’s name, but the report mentioned that his girlfriend “has a baby by the suspect.”
