The argument was over $5. That or a pack of cigarettes.
A Bibb County Sheriff's Office deputy was dispatched to the call just after noon on July 29 at the River Ridge Apartments on Riverside Drive.
A 57-year-old woman there said her son, 36, was arguing with another man, 24. The mother, according to an incident report, said the 24-year-old came to her door demanding that her son step outside because he owed him $5 or a pack of smokes.
While explaining this to the deputy, the woman interrupted herself to yell at the 24-year-old.
“He ain’t take none of your damn money,” she said. “I don’t give a s--- what you say.”
A deputy asked the 24-year-old for his side of the story, but instead he hollered back at the mother: “You knew yo’ dumb a— son had my cigarettes.”
Then he explained that he had given the woman’s son $5 to go to the store for a pack of Newports, but that the son had never returned. The three continued shouting at one another.
In the end, the 24-year-old was banned from the property. He and the older man, along with the older man’s mother, were cited for disorderly conduct.
