Stolen: Three large pizzas. No, it wasn’t your ordinary theft. A Papa John’s deliveryman took the pizzas to Room 221 at the Budgetel Inn & Suites off Riverside Drive in north Macon one night in early July. A Bibb County sheriff’s report of the episode noted that when the deliveryman, 18, knocked on the door, people in the room next door said they were the ones who had ordered the food. The deliveryman said he had forgotten the drinks they had ordered and he left the pizzas there in a warming bag while he went to get the drinks. When he returned, the report said, “the bag was there but the pizzas were missing.” The delivery guy said he asked the customers, two men and a woman, if they had the pizzas. The deliveryman said they told him no, but he then noticed a handgun in their room, “which scared him,” the report added, and his supervisor later called the cops. A sheriff’s deputy watched surveillance footage at the motel and saw a fourth person who had been in the room run off with the pizzas while the delivery guy was gone to get the drinks.
