A 17-year-old Milledgeville man fled gunfire early Monday as he drove down South Elbert Street.
About 2 a.m. July 4, the teen was driving south when he heard loud bangs, according to a release from the Milledgeville Police Department.
Maj. Mike Hudson, commander of the Criminal Investigation unit, said the teenager told investigators he heard three to five “pops” that he thought were fireworks until he realized the rear window was shattered.
“He said he sped off to his house to get away from another vehicle that was behind him that he thought the shots came from,” Hudson stated in the release.
Neither the driver nor his 21-year-old male passenger was hurt, but the vehicle was significantly damaged.
