A Fort Valley man was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 341 near Perry, the Georgia State Patrol says.
Darrell Cliett, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Senior Trooper John Hardage, who was dispatched to the crash at 7 a.m. Cliett was last seen alive about six hours earlier, Hardage said.
Cliett was traveling south on the roadway between Fort Valley and Perry when his black 2014 Dodge Avenger went off the road, across a ditch and struck a tree head-on, Hardage said.
An autopsy found that Cliett had multiple traumatic injuries and likely died within minutes of the crash, said Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin.

The wreckage was likely discovered within a few hours of the crash, Galpin said.
