A 26-year-old man leaving a downtown Macon bar was confronted and robbed by two men with a gun about 11 p.m. Tuesday night.
The man was walking in the Third Street Lane alley at Cherry Street when he was told to surrender his money and cellphone, according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
When the victim said he didn’t have money, the robbers tried to force him to an ATM, but the man said he did not have money in the bank, either, the release stated.
The robbers took his cellphone and ran.
Deputies combing downtown for the suspects caught one of them near College Street, but the other got away.
Willie Mitchell Jr., 32, is charged with armed robbery and firearm charges, as well as a probation violation.
Anyone with information about his accomplice is asked to call Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 877-68-CRIME.
