The Georgia Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans is offering a $1,000 reward to find out who dug up the grave of a Civil War officer.
In mid-December, Crawford County deputies got a call about a likely grave robbery at the Old Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery on Causey Road.
The final resting place of Lt. James A. Nichols had been disturbed, but authorities have not been able to determine whether anything was taken from the nearly 150-year-old grave.
Sheriff Lewis Walker believes someone might have been looking for Civil War artifacts.
