Two men are behind bars after a Tuesday morning armed robbery in Macon.
Macon residents Willie Johnson III, 18, and Larry Donnell Clay Jr., 22, were arrested at a home in the 400 block of Poppy Avenue. They are accused of robbing the Citgo Gas & Food Mart at 1803 Pio Nono Ave. just before 8:30 a.m.
According to a clerk, two men entered the store, with one standing at the door while the other grabbed beer and food items. When the clerk attempted to stop them, one pulled out a gun and pointed it at the clerk.
During the investigation, Bibb County sheriff’s deputies went to a home on Daffodil Street, to which the two suspects had been seen running after the robbery. There, deputies found the gun used in the robbery, among other items.

The suspects were identified, located and arrested before being taken in for questioning. Both were charged with armed robbery and taken to the Bibb County jail. No bond has been set.
