A Bibb County deputy was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegations that he offered a 14-year-old girl money for sex.
Kenneth Lee Brown, 49, is on administrative leave pending termination, Sheriff David Davis said.
Brown is charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes, child molestation, aggravated assault, violating his oath and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission or attempt to commit a felony, according to jail records.
In the wee hours of Tuesday morning, Brown allegedly went to apartments in the 2000 block of Old Clinton Road, Davis said.
While groping the girl, he allegedly offered her money, saying, “I want to buy some” sex, Davis said.
At one point, Brown pointed a gun at the girl and her “male companion,” he said.
Earlier this month, federal authorities announced charges against four other Bibb County deputies in public corruption cases.
All four were charged after FBI sting operations.
Charges against the four, all of whom either resigned or were subsequently fired, ranged from theft of government money to attempted extortion. One of the four already has pleaded guilty.
Brown is being held at the county jail without bond.
Said Davis of the recent string of arrests: “We’re trying to perform cleanup.”
