WARNER ROBINS -- A Perry man is accused of shooting a woman in the front yard of an Elko home Tuesday night.
Arrest warrants have been issued for Desmond Demund Ross, 22, on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm in commission of a crime, authorities said.
Crystal Samantha Grier, 26, was shot about 10:30 p.m. outside a home in the 3000 block of U.S. 41 after an argument. Her injuries were not believed to be life threatening, but she remained hospitalized Wednesday, said Houston County sheriff’s Capt. John Holland, head of investigations.
“They were in a prior relationship and apparently Ross had gone over there to talk with this young lady about their relationship,” Holland said. “From talking, it became an argument.”
At some point, Ross struck Grier in the face, Holland said. Ross then allegedly went to his car, retrieved a small-caliber handgun and fired one shot, hitting Grier in the abdomen.
Ross fled in his 1994 green Toyota Camry with Georgia tag PRA 2688.
Witnesses inside the home told authorities they heard the shot, ran outside and found Grier collapsed on the ground. They also saw Ross driving away in a hurry.
Investigators were able to talk with Grier about what had happened.
Anyone with information about the shooting or Ross’ whereabouts is asked to contact Houston County sheriff’s Lt. David Carrick at 478-542-2085, or 478-542-2080.
