A 30-year-old Macon man has been charged with two counts of child cruelty in connection with an allegation he shook an 8-month-old boy, causing him to suffer a brain injury and retinal hemorrhages in April 2012, according to an indictment filed Tuesday in Bibb County Superior Court.
Kendall Mesean Spivey, of Railroad Avenue, was alone with the child at a house on Ridgewood Avenue on April 10, 2012, while the boy's mother took older children to school. While the mother was away, Spivey allegedly called her and said the child wasn't breathing, according to the district attorney's office.
Spivey also is accused of choking the child, according to the indictment.
He is being held at the county jail on $12,500 bond, according to jail records.
