The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Flash Foods store, 5602 Thomaston Road, early Saturday morning, a sheriff’s report said.
According to the report, a man was standing outside the store trying to sell a pocketknife to some customers, then entered the store at about 2:15 a.m. and tried to buy beer. He then went around the counter and threatened the clerk with the knife. He took money from the register, then forced the clerk to open the store’s office to get the security tape.
When the man was unable to get the tape, he forced the clerk into a back room and told her to wait 10 minutes before calling the police.
Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man, who is described as a white male, late 30s, between 5-foot-10 inches and 6-feet tall, about 220 to 250 pounds, with a bald head and a goatee and dark mustache. He was wearing a gray sweatshirt, green camouflage pants and black shoes, and left the scene in a green pickup truck.
