A Bonaire man was sentenced to eight years in prison Wednesday for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Lester Efford Jr., 43, was sentenced in Houston County Superior Court after a three-day jury trial, according to a Houston County District Attorney’s Office news release.
He also was sentenced to seven years on probation upon his release from prison, the release stated.
Efford had prior felony convictions for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and theft by deception, the release stated.

On Jan. 31, 2010, Efford was spotted by Houston County sheriff’s deputy Ben Lashley dropping a bag of cocaine on the ground. Efford had stopped before a roadblock on Ga. 247 near the Bibb County line in an unsuccessful attempt to avoid detection, the release stated.
