Macon police are investigating a shooting that took place early Sunday morning in which a man was struck in his right foot, a police report stated.
According to the report, the 17-year-old victim and his brother were sitting on wood dividers in front of their house on Telfair Street Lane when a group of men wearing black approached them, asking for cigarettes. The men then walked away, going about 30 feet when the two brothers heard five or six shots. They ran toward their house, but one of the brothers was struck in the foot and fell to the ground.
Officers collected shell casings at the scene and detained a man whom the brothers identified as one of the group of men who shot at them. Some witnesses backed up their story, while other witnesses said the man wasn’t involved. The victim was taken to the hospital, while the man in custody was questioned and later released.
The case remains under investigation.
