A Perry couple is accused of growing marijuana in their home at 608 Logue St., police said.
Taunya and Quentin Young, both 24, were each charged with manufacturing marijuana and possession of drug-related items after police discovered marijuana plants growing in a bedroom and in a large closest, Perry police Capt. Heath Dykes said Thursday.
Police were dispatched to the couple’s home Wednesday regarding a welfare check on 68-year-old Mary Anne Phillips, the grandmother of Taunya Young, Dykes said. Phillips lives with the couple, he said.
While the police were at the home checking on Phillips, an officer saw small marijuana plants growing in a bedroom, Dykes said.

A search warrant was obtained, and larger marijuana plants ranging from 3 feet to 5 feet were found growing in a closest, Dykes said.
A hydroponic system provided light and irrigation for the plants inside the closet, Dykes said.
The estimated street value of the plants was not immediately available. Taunya and Quentin Young were being held Thursday in the Houston County jail.
