Gov. Sonny Perdue is accepting nominations of people to fill the post of Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney until a special election is held in November, according to the governor’s office.
Howard Simms recently stepped down from the position to run for Superior Court judge in the Macon Judicial Circuit.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Wayne G. Tillis assumed the position of acting district attorney upon Simms’ departure.
Nominations for the job will be sent to the Governor’s Executive Counsel’s office. The counsel’s office then will submit a list to the governor, spokesman Chris Schrimpf said.
