U.S. Marshals arrested a 22-year-old man Friday and charged him with the June 25 shooting of a 17-year-old girl.
Charles Antonio Balthrop was found hiding in an Econo Lodge motel on Riverside Drive, according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.
He was charged with aggravated assault and probation violation and was being held without bond Saturday at the Bibb County jail, according to the jail’s Web site.
The shooting happened at 2828 Shamrock Lane in south Macon’s Village Green neighborhood. The girl was shot in the throat and required surgery for her wound.
According to the Bibb County Jail’s Web site, Balthrop’s address is 2688 Village Green Lane. According to The Georgia Department of Corrections Web site, Balthrop was sentenced to five years in prison for robbery by intimidation for a crime that occurred in October 2003.
He began his sentence in October 2005 and was released in April 2009.
