A Warner Robins man was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison without the possibility of parole for the molestation of a 14-year-old relative, a Houston County prosecutor said.
Richard Meddings, 33, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Katherine K. Lumsden immediately after a jury found him guilty of two counts of aggravated child molestation and four counts of child molestation, said Senior Assistant District Attorney David Cooke.
The jury deliberated about 45 minutes before returning its verdict following the five-day trial, said Cooke, head of the special victim’s unit.
Lumsden also sentenced Meddings to life on probation to include sex offender conditions, Cooke said.
“This defendant tore apart this family, and this sentence is just a down payment for what he owes them,” Cooke said.
The relative, who does not live in the area, was molested by Meddings in February and March of 2007, Cooke said.
