The GBI and area law enforcement are investigating the Monday homicide of a Wrightsville man.
According to a release from the GBI, James Akeridge, 41, of East College Street in Wrightsville, was shot once in his home at about 11:23 p.m.
Akeridge called 911, and investigators from the Wrightsville police and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene. Akeridge told them someone broke into his home and shot him once. He lost consciousness before making any other statements. He was pronounced dead about an hour later at Emanuel County Hospital.
