A 23-year-old Macon man has been charged with rape, aggravated child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes in connection with the Wednesday assault of a 13-year-old girl, according to Macon police.
The girl was walking on Houston Avenue when a man in a silver sport utility vehicle asked if she wanted a ride.
The man, later identified as Terrance Devon Ragland, of Antioch Road, is accused of driving the girl behind an apartment and forcing himself on her, police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet said.
The girl walked to a relative’s home after the incident, Gaudet said.
Police said the girl recognized the man, and the man said he knew the girl’s mother.
Ragland was arrested late Wednesday and is being held at the Bibb County jail without bond, according to jail records.
He also is being held on unrelated charges of forgery, theft by receiving stolen property and a probation violation.
