Prosecutors and an attorney for Scarbrough Insurance Agency have filed a joint stipulation recommending a lawsuit against the company be dismissed without prejudice, according to federal court records.
The insurance agency was named in a lawsuit filed by Philadelphia Indemnity Insurance Co. in January against Broadus W. Marshall Jr., 57, and his son 26-year-old Matthew P. Marshall. The Marshalls were arrested Dec. 17, 2009, on one count of insurance fraud. Broadus Marshall was indicted in Bibb County Superior Court in May on seven counts of insurance fraud.
Bill Scarbrough, owner of Scarbrough Insurance, bought SSK Marshall LLC in June 2005. Broadus Marshall managed the agency as an agent before the sale, but he wasn’t affiliated with the agency under Scarbrough’s ownership, Scarbrough has said.
No criminal charge has been filed against Scarbrough Insurance.
