A robber punched a merchant in the face Friday night and took money he was trying to deposit at a north Bibb County bank.
The incident happened about 9:58 p.m. at Wachovia Bank at 150 Tom Hill Sr. Blvd., according to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
The merchant was trying to drop an undisclosed amount of money into the bank’s night deposit box when a man struck him in the face with his fist, grabbed the money and ran away. The victim declined to be treated when emergency medical workers arrived at the scene.
According to the sheriff’s office, the robber was a black male about 6 feet tall, weighing about 200 pounds. He was dressed in all black clothing except for a blue cloth on his head.
