Two people were wounded in separate shootings early Thursday morning in Milledgeville.
Nazree Burton, 70, is charged with aggravated assault in the first shooting during a domestic dispute shortly after midnight on Charlton Street, said Police Chief Woodrow Blue.
Burton told investigators he had locked himself in his bedroom when a woman he lives with started banging on the door. He told Berdice Brown she couldn’t come in, but when she tried to force her way into the room, he shot her, Blue said.
Brown was shot in the lower stomach and taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
In a separate incident about 2 a.m., 21-year-old Anthony Barnes was shot in the left leg and foot while walking to the store on Vinson Highway near Caraker Avenue in the south end of the city, Blue said.
Barnes was taken to the Oconee Regional Medical Center where he told police someone in a black vehicle pointed a gun out of the window and fired as the car drove by.
Anyone with information is asked to call Milledgeville police at (478) 414-4000.
