A Dodge County deputy is on administrative leave without pay after being charged Tuesday with simple battery, criminal trespass and making terroristic threats and acts, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Dean Smith turned himself in to Sheriff Jeff Hinson and has since been released on a $7,500 property bond, according to the release.
Smith has been on administrative leave since May 10 when a resident filed an internal affairs complaint against Harris concerning an off-duty incident May 7.
The complainant and two witnesses alleged Smith, while off duty, physically assaulted and threatened the complainant, according to the release.
