A 29-year-old man was shot and killed Friday night as he walked along an east Macon street, according to a news release from the Macon Police Department.
Christopher Finney was shot about 9:35 p.m. on Williams Street while he was walking home from Church’s Chicken on Shurling Drive. Police had not named any suspects by Saturday afternoon.
Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said a passer-by saw Finney’s body at the corner of Schaeffer Place and Williams Street and called 911. Finney had a bullet wound in his chest and shell casings were found in the street, Jones said.
Finney had no known address, according to Jones. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Finney’s death was the third homicide in Macon in a week.
“I don’t know what can be done, but it’s going to take a community effort,” Jones said. “This is Macon, Georgia, our hometown. Three in one week — come on!”
