Macon police say robbery was the motive behind the shooting death of a 28-year-old man Monday near the intersection of Winton and Date avenues.
Javares Lavendar, 19, of Toole Drive, is charged with murder in the death of Tommy Daniel, of Spencer Circle, police said. Lavendar is being held at the Bibb County jail without bond, according to jail records.
Macon Regional CrimeStoppers Executive Director Robert Martin said a CrimeStoppers tip helped police identify Lavendar as the shooter.
Other anonymous tips helped officers find him Wednesday, according to police.

While investigators think the motive for the shooting was robbery, nothing was taken, said police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet.
Police would not say whether Lavendar and Daniel knew each other, but Gaudet did say the shooting wasn’t random.
Daniel was shot to death just before 5 p.m. Monday while driving a 1992 Nissan Maxima.
