A Houston County man has been arrested in connection with a shooting earlier Wednesday afternoon.
Rich Relaford, 27, was charged with aggravated assault and theft by receiving stolen property, said Houston County sheriff’s Sgt. Ronnie Harlowe.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was taken by ambulance to The Medical Center of Central Georgia for a gunshot wound to the stomach, Harlowe said.
Relaford told police that he was playing with a handgun and that it discharged accidentally, Harlowe said.

The gun turned out to have been stolen, Harlowe said.
The injuries to the man were not believed to be life-threatening, Harlowe said. Authorities need to verify his identification and notify next of kin before releasing his name, Harlowe said.
Harlowe said he has not yet been able to talk with the victim.
The shooting happened about 4:15 p.m. at a residence at 206 Wrasling Way, Harlowe said.
