A 29-year-old Macon woman was cited on charges of driving under the influence and driving without a license early Sunday morning after she crashed into a parked patrol car on Log Cabin Drive, Macon police said.
Officer Edward Williams Jr. was out of his car and helping another officer at about 4:20 a.m. when he heard a “big bump,” according to a police report.
A 1995 Nissan Altima driven by Erica Burnette had struck the patrol car. Burnette told officers she saw police cars on the opposite side of the road with their lights flashing but didn’t see the police car parked on her side of the road, according to the report.
Burnette said she tried to miss the officer’s 1998 Ford Crown Victoria but couldn’t avoid it. When tested for alcohol following the crash, Burnette’s blood alcohol content measured 0.132 and 0.131, according to the report. The legal limit in Georgia is 0.08.
