The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on charges of attempting to shoplift beer from Wal-Mart on Harrison Road on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a sheriff’s report, deputies charged David Earl Mills, 52, of Bonaire, with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon during a felony and theft by shoplifting after he allegedly shoplifted four 24-packs of beer.
Security personnel saw Mills allegedly put the beer into old Wal-Mart bags and attempted to leave, the report stated. Mills was taken to the store’s security office to await deputies. That was when Mills allegedly drew a pocketknife and attempted to stab store personnel, the report stated.
One of the men’s hands was cut during the struggle, but Mills was subdued and later placed under arrest, according to the report.
