The Georgia Supreme Court has upheld the murder conviction and life sentence handed down in the 2003 slaying of a Macon man.
Jason William Futch had sought a new trial following his conviction for the shooting death of 20-year-old Mike Weaver.
In his appeal, Futch contended that he received ineffective assistance of counsel during his trial. But in a unanimous decision Monday, the Supreme Court disagreed and denied his appeal.
Futch was sentenced to life in prison in December 2004 after a four-day trial in Fulton County, where the crime happened.
