A Bibb County jury has found a 28-year-old Macon man guilty of vehicular homicide and hit-and-run.
Carlton Antonio Hugley, of Sapp Street, was convicted Thursday following a one-day trial, prosecutor Elizabeth Bobbitt said.
Hugley was sentenced to serve eight years in prison followed by five years on probation, Bobbitt said.
A witness testified that Hugley used marijuana before the wreck that killed 39-year-old Rodney Corbin on April 25, 2008, Bobbitt said.
Never miss a local story.
Hugley left the scene after his Hyundai Santa Fe hit Corbin’s motorcycle near the intersection of Albert Lane and Mercer University Drive. He was later arrested July 18, 2008.
Bobbitt said jurors deliberated for about an hour Wednesday night and returned their verdict Thursday morning after an additional 15 minutes in the jury room.
