An apartment window, cars and a mailbox were damaged late New Year’s Eve and early New Year’s Day in Macon by apparent celebratory gunfire.
Cars were damaged on Millerfield Road, Clisby Place, Burton Avenue, Carlisle Avenue and Mercer University Drive, according to Macon police reports.
A woman living in the 3300 block of Napier Avenue reported someone shot at her apartment window, and an officer found a bullet hole in the window. A mailbox in the 5100 block of Idlewood Drive was damaged by five bullets that passed through both sides of the box, according to a report.
Elsewhere, a 4-year-old boy was killed by a falling celebratory bullet while attending a New Year’s Eve church service. DeKalb County police say it appears the bullet came through the roof of the church and hit the boy in the head, according to an Associated Press report.
