A Macon father is accused of shooting his 18-year-old son early Friday morning, police said.
Charles Edward Young Sr., 41, was charged with aggravated assault in the 1 a.m. shooting at 1293 Courtland Ave. in Macon, according to a Macon police news release.
The victim, Charles Edward Young Jr., was shot in the side, the release stated.
He was taken to The Medical Center of Central Georgia, where he was listed as in stable but critical condition, the release stated.
Witnesses told police that the victim was shot by his father, who was arrested on Edwards Avenue by the Macon police STRIKE Unit.
The unit recovered a .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, the weapon believed to have been used in the shooting, the release stated.
Police later discovered that the pistol had been reported stolen in an October 2009 burglary, according to the release.
Charles Edward Young Sr. was being held Friday at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, the release stated.
