A 27-year-old Macon man was cited for being party to the false report of a crime early Monday morning after telling the police he’d been robbed in a field off Graham Road, according to Macon police.
Wesley Aaron Land, of Colonial Drive, initially told officers he was approached by two men in an old Oldsmobile while he walked on Graham Road toward Jones County just before 1 a.m., according to a police report.
He said he ran into the field, the men followed him and beat him while taking his wallet and phone. Land told the officers he fell on the ground during the attack, according to the report.
But officers noted that there weren’t any stains on his jacket, although he had bruises on his nose and face. Land then said his wife had been the primary aggressor in a heated physical altercation, police said.
After officers talked with Land’s wife, he told them he inflicted the wounds himself.
Land was released from the Bibb County jail on $650 bond, according to jail records.
