The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several incidents along Interstate 475 northbound in which vehicles were struck Monday by rocks and other debris reportedly thrown by teenagers.
Five different motorists told deputies that three or more teens threw rocks and tree limbs around 9 p.m. at the mile 1 marker at the edge of the interstate, striking the cars. The teens then ran off.
Each of the vehicles sustained broken windshields and other damage.
Deputies detained four youths Tuesday around 8 p.m. at Exit 3 on I-475 northbound. The teens ranged from ages 14 to 17. There were no victims reported Tuesday, and investigators were unable to link the youths to the previous night’s incidents. The youths weren’t charged and were released into the custody of their mothers.
